Your favorite shops, gardens, gyms, and restaurants are ALL closed for social distancing and safer at home orders, new terms introduced this month. You can’t go to work. You can’t go to school, so what to do?
1. Meditate – If you haven’t meditated before and you’re not sure where to start, download Oprah & Deepak’s 21-Day Meditation Experience in the App Store and join the free “Hope in Uncertain Times” daily meditations. #HopeGoesGlobal
2. Write – Write down your thoughts and stories in a journal or write an article to share knowledge with others.
3. Create – Color, paint, organize your photos or make albums. Create your personal happy space or your private little coffee shop in your house with your favorite objects, colors, and scents!
4. Connect – FaceTime a Friend or do a group video chat through Instagram with fun filters to make you giggle! Did an important family event get canceled? Host it virtually on a video conferencing platform like Zoom.
5. Exercise – Practice gentle yoga, dance to your favorite music videos, or make use of your workout equipment. Visit YouTube for inspiration.
6. Learn – Watch an educational video, read a book, or sign up for an online course.
7. Decorate – Bring out the bunnies and decorate your home for spring!
8. Get Fresh Air & Sunshine – Go on a neighborhood nature walk, look up at the trees, stop and smell the roses, and admire the birds for bringing springtime cheer with their sweet songs!
9. Cook – Try a nutritious and delicious recipe. Chances are your fridge/pantry is stocked so you can probably make something new and creative without even leaving the house!
10. Get Cozy – Make a cup of herbal tea like chamomile and add fresh ginger and lemon. Light yummy scented candles, like vanilla. Get cozy with a feel good movie like a rom-com or your favorite Disney classic.
If you’re working from home and/or watching or home-schooling your kids through a new distance learning program, find at least 30 minutes a day to squeeze in a fun and relaxing activity for yourself.
Inner Intelligence Tip: If you feel like you’ve run out of things to do, remember we are human beings not human doings, so it’s ok to Just Be.
End each day by saying out loud 3 things you are thankful for.
Wishing you a restful time at home until we resume our normal daily routines. And when we do, I encourage you to embody new ways of being.
Love and light,
Michelle
